My guess would be that the catalytic converter is plugged, or maybe some other exhaust blockage. The exhaust cannot go through the system and the car stalls. As it "cools off" the pressure is actually equalizing, or coming back to atmospheric and the exhaust can flow freely again, for a while. I would check this scenario out, could be something to it.
