Whether or not the child is attending school does not relieve one from their court ordered responsibility to provide child support. The only possible way this may apply is if that was specifically written into the divorce decree settlement papers and the court judge approved it.

I could be mistaken, but I believe that child support only applies for the biological mother/father of the actual baby. As you are the father/mother of the mother, I don't think you have to pay anything, even if you're daughter is only 16. The 18 year old is the one that has to worry . . . but this could also change depending on what country/state you're from. Your 16-year-old daughter is still a minor, and therefore you'd still have to pay child support for her (notice I said *her* not her child). I'm assuming she's not married and is still in school and lives at home?

It depends on your state. Normally child support ends upon the age of majority in your state or emancipation. Unless a child is considered emancipated through giving birth, you will probably have to continue paying support. However, there are a few states that end child support at that time. If this is your baby than your name should be on the certificate. Regardless if your name is on the certificate or not you will still have to pay child support if this is your baby. There are a lot of people who were never married that are paying child support so the divorce is irrevelant. Why would you not want to be responsible for your own child. Regardless of the situation, the obligated parent must adhere to the court order of support until the order is amended or rescinded by the court of jurisdiction. The father cannot arbitrarily stop child support payments, he will have to file a lawsuit (petition) in the appropriate state court to have the child support amended or stopped. Unless the young woman falsified the documents needed to obtain public assistance, the state's division of child support enforcement or social services would be aware that her father is paying support also, and that would in all likelihood indicate the support order now in place would hold up if contested.

Yes. It is the parents responsibility to provide support to a child until they are 18, or 19 and in school. If that child has given birth it is of no consequence in terms of child support unless the child was legally emancipated. Having a baby does not legally emancipate a minor.

I don't live in Cali but in most states the only time a child support case ends is when a child turns 18 or graduates from high school whichever comes last and not to exceed 19. Her having a baby should not have anything to do with your support.
