My 1988 BMW 735i won't start it doesn't make any noise but all the lights work and the radio and horn works but its not turning over can you help me?

i assume there is no clicking sound??? possible causes could be a faulty igntion switch, try hitting under the steering column where your ignition key goes in, give it some real good hard hits, and try, if it cranks/starts, you have a faulty ignition switch, if not, you may have a blown fuse, a bad battery, or a bad starter, generally speaking, alot of clicking, means a faulty battery, one click, or few clicks means faulty starter,

∙ 15y agoFirst, make sure there's fuel in the tank! engine needs 3 things. air, fuel, spark. you can check the fuel and spark. check the spark. you can pull one of the plugs and crank it as you ground the plug to a metal part of the engine (ground the threaded part). if you have spark the problem will be with the fuel delivery. see if you have fuel pressure. listen for the fuel pump. squeeze the incoming fuel line from the tank. it should be hard. if it is then take a look at the injectors. otherwise look at the wiring for the engine. Hopefully someone hasn't buggered it.
an engine also needs good compression to fire. you can hook up a compression tester to the cylinders to see the psi output. unplug all the spark plugs. hook up the tester to one of the spark plug holes. crank the engine 4-5 times. the pressure should raise up maybe up to ~150 psi. depends on compression ratio. you can pick up a book for your car at http://www.germanautoparts.com/Books/BMW/7-Series and if that still does not work, check your starter, it might not be working. That happened to me.

Have you tried pushing the button to the left of the steering wheel? the one that shuts the lights off when they are on. if that doesnt work, if you have an aftermarket radio, and the adapter for the security, that might be why.
