There is a sensor in the cap of the brake fluid reservoir. The sensor may be going bad. The intermittent problem most likely occurs in colder weather with rain or high humidity. Replace the cap for about $23 from a dealer. Be sure, before doing any repair, that the fluid level is not just low. I have a 92 Honda Accord that had a similar problem. The car uses a passive system to monitor the condition of the lamp filaments. When it sees any increase in resistance, it turns on the warning indicators. Your brake lights continue to function normally. Typically seen during wet and humid weather. Turns out that the contacts on the brake lamp holder has built up a film of resistance and the lamp does not make good contact. Put on a drop of solder on the two contacts of the lamp and assemble back together. Should work.
If you are getting an indicator of a burned out light, but don't see a burned out light, it must be a turn signal light. On a Mercedes, you'll actually get a "burned out light" indicator if the turn signal is not working.
I had the same problem on my 1999 Windstar. It turned out that the light bulb for this indicator was burned out. I simply replaced it and the problem was solved!!
Your taillight is burned out.
The indicator bulb may be burned out.
Possibly both of them are burned out (common). You were running on only one for a while and then that one burned out. The indicator would still be lit.
that means you have MORE than one bulb burned out. The the light indicator does not tell how many and what bulbs are burned out. It stays on until all the burned out bulbs are replaced.
It can be burned
Nobody as far as I know burnt down Jeff Hardy's home. Accidents happen and places do catch fire if your not careful. Last time I checked it was an electrical issue.
I had this problem in my 1991 Suburban. It turned out being the A/C, Vent, Heater switch having burned contacts. Had the switch replaced and smell went away.
When the dash lights dim on the Nissan Pulsar SS 99 with the use of the turn signal, it is usually an indication of a bulb burned out in the turn signals. It can also mean that the flasher is bad and taking too much juice.
bulb burned out; fuse/circuit breaker open
it means that a bulb is burned out
