Your F150 will not hold a charge changed battery and alternator recently had a plow put on would this affect it somehow?

I am having this problem as we speak, the alternator is good, I took it to auto zone where they test them free of charge, the battery is good as I can drive for an hour or so just running on the battery, oh yeah, while the truck is running if you disconnect the hot wire from the battery the truck should run, mine won't, auto zone says there is a relay in the charging system that may be bad . I'm going to check out this possibility now. I will let all you baffled ******** know how it goes

You need to check your battery and alternator, to start with. If you're lucky it'll be something simple like those two. Sometimes you can get local auto parts stores to check them it for free. Typically that means that the alternator isn't charging. Many auto parts retailers will test the charging system at no cost. Their hope is that you'll buy the replacement parts from them. An automobile will run for a while after the alternator stops charging, but when an alternator is not replacing the electrical current the battery will eventually discharge and without recharging the battery SOMEHOW, with either a functioning alternator or an outside charger, the engine will eventually fail to start.

There is a possibility that you burned up a diode plate in your alternator and the battery cannot get re-charged. Check the battery, if it's low you might want to somehow get the vehicle to an auto parts retailer where they can test the electrical system and let you know what's wrong.

Have them check the PCM on the car. I JUST had this problem with my 99 Cavalier and the mechanic had to pull everything out of my dash before he found that my PCM was fried somehow. Just so you have symptoms to compare to, my dome light and dash indicators would all light up and work fine, but when you would try to start the car it would not even click. It acted like my battery was dead. I had to jump start my car every time I got in.

Something that big will have to go directly to the battery somehow. Can you put one of those electrical ends on it and connect it to the positive terminal of the battery? Then you can just have the wire bolted behind the clamp part of the battery cable. (put the eyelet between the tightening bolt and another bolt of the same size. Connect it tight. I would put and inline fuse in this wire also. Make sure the alternator can keep up with demand when this device is connected. Good luck.

This is just a guess but I'm thinking you have disturbed the battery somehow and either shorted out the battery or one of the battery cables. Good luck.
