Talk to him, no matter what you say, the choice in the end will be his own as to weather or not he continues to smoke, however as his close friend, im sure your opinion is valued to him, and therefore at the very least he will appreciate that you care enough to say something. Just telll him how you feel about it, or that your worried about him. The least you can do, as his friend, is try.
