Usually yes, since you hold a British Passport. But of course travelling is safer when you have enough amount of validity in your passport. But if you are returning to your country, it's alright to have just a valid and unexpired passport.
It depends on where you are coming from. If you live inside of the Schengen Zone, there is no problem. If you live outside of Schengen, you will probably need a new passport, especially if you need a VISA to enter Spain.
