Rocky River is a city in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States. It is named after the river of the same name that forms its eastern border. The population was 20,735 as of the 2000 census.

Rocky River is located at 41°28′31″N 81°50′45″W / 41.47528°N 81.84583°W (41.475297, -81.845759)[4].
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.6 square miles (14.6 km²), of which, 4.8 square miles (12.3 km²) of it is land and 0.9 square miles (2.3 km²) of it (15.45%) is water.
As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 20,735 people, 9,709 households, and 5,437 families residing in the city. The population density was 4,360.8 people per square mile (1,685.4/km²). There were 10,166 housing units at an average density of 2,138.0/sq mi (826.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 96.83% White, 0.41% African American, 0.07% Native American, 1.33% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.27% from other races, and 1.08% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.20% of the population.
There were 9,709 households out of which 22.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.2% were married couples living together, 6.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 44.0% were non-families. 40.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 20.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.11 and the average family size was 2.90.
In the city the population was spread out with 20.9% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 24.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 82.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 77.4 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $51,636, and the median income for a family was $72,361. Males had a median income of $52,727 versus $32,145 for females. The per capita income for the city was $34,663. About 1.5% of families and 2.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 1.3% of those under age 18 and 3.8% of those age 65 or over.
