Samuel Scott was a British painter known for painting seascapes.
He was born in London in 1702. He began painting around 1720, specalising on naval battles and depictions of ports. In the 1740s, he produced a series of paintings on the River Thames as it flowed through London. The painter William Marlow was his pupil. He died in Bath on 21 October 1772. Some of his most celebrated paintings were his depictions of scenes during the War of Jenkins' Ear.
