SkyTerra Communications has a hold on the satellite communications market. The company provides voice and data communications to subscribers in North America via two satellites. SkyTerra makes sales through a direct sales force, dealers, and resellers. It also markets bulk capacity to other wireless service providers. SkyTerra owns an additional equity interest in TerreStar, which is developing its own satellite communications business.
