(b Tbilisi, 17 March 1927). Georgian composer. He studied with Tuskiya at the Tbilisi Conservatory, where he began teaching in 1963. His works, in most genres, have attracted interest for their organic synthesis of new expressive means with traditional Georgian music; they include five symphonies (1957, 1964, 1969, 1972, 1975).
