Whether your destination is the Amazonian rain forest or the beaches of Rio, TAM wants to take you there. Owning a fleet of about 130 aircraft, the low-fare Brazilian air carrier flies out of its hub city of São Paulo to about 20 international cities and 40 domestic locations; it reaches another 35 through regional alliances and subsidiary Mercosur. It flies to Portugal and other European destinations through codeshare agreements with major airlines and a partnership with Portuguese flagship carrier TAP. TAM holds about 50% of the domestic market carrying mostly business customers. In 2011 the company agreed to merge with Chilean regional airline LAN and form a new company, LATAM.
