Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is the first and largest dedicated silicon foundry (contract semiconductor manufacturer) in the world, with eight plants in Asia and one in the US. TSMC makes chips for fabless semiconductor and systems companies (accounting for about 80% of sales), such as Advanced Micro Devices and Broadcom, and integrated device manufacturers (some 20% of sales), including LSI Corporation and STMicroelectronics.
