Ultra Petroleum is ultra-keen in its search for petroleum products. The independent exploration and production company recovers natural gas and crude oil from Cretaceous era deposits in the Green River Basin of southwestern Wyoming and from holdings in the Marcellus Shale play in Pennsylvania. Ultra Petroleum owns stakes in 22,000 gross developed acres in Wyoming and 28,000 gross developed acres in Pennsylvania. In 2010 Ultra Petroleum reported proved reserves of 3.9 trillion cu. ft. of natural gas equivalent, and had about 1,700 gross and about 840 net productive wells.
