At the northeastern corner of PA, east of Scranton; organized Mar 21, 1798 from Northampton County. Name Origin: For Gen. Anthony Wayne (1745-1796), PA soldier and statesman, nicknamed "Mad Anthony" for his daring during the Revolutionary War.
