William Parsons

 
Music Encyclopedia: William Parsons

(fl 1545-63). English composer. In 1555 he was a vicar-choral at Wells Cathedral and may have been chief composer and copyist there, 1552-60. He was the major contributor (81 settings) to Day's psalter (1563) and may have helped compile it. Most of his services, anthems and motets are lost or incomplete in MSS.
