It is a common belief that being a professional wrestler and being a performer are two similar professions. While it is true that a few aspects of wrestling are merged into acting, a wrestler's in-ring success does not always render to the big screen.

Dwayne Johnson is famous for his wrestling alter ego "The Rock," and is a California native who has won the World Wrestling Entertainment championships an impressive 16 times. He has his fair share of big screen brawls, but playing the Scorpion King in "The Mummy Returns" kicked off his acting career.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper

Although Piper didn't make it to world champion status during his professional wrestling career, he won 34 other championship titles. He has a plethora of movie roles to his credit, but his role as John Nada in John Carpenter's "They Live" impressed the masses the most.

Andre Roussimoff is best remembered as "Andre the Giant," and towered over all of his opponents. During his wrestling career, he had the title of "The Eighth Wonder of the World" due to his gigantism. He proved his acting skills in the classic "The Princess Bride," playing the Fezzik character in the film.

John Cena. also called "The Prototype" and "Mr. P," has a lot of credentials such as professional wrestler, rapper, and actor. He entered into the movie industry through his film "The Marine," which WWE Studios financed.

Wrestling fans know him as Batista, but fans of the Marvel Comics film "Guardians of the Galaxy" know him as Drax. Batista's performance in 2014's biggest film was widely praised by both fans of the series and critics. It must've been a nice change for Batista in 2014, as WWE fans were booing him relentlessly in the early part of 2014, even though Batista was a good guy!

Hulk Hogan

Sure, it might have been a smaller role and he didn't show any range outside of a normal wrestling persona, but Hulk Hogan's role in "Rocky III" is still remembered as a stand out portion of that classic movie. Hogan played such an evil, powerhouse bad guy that it worked perfectly.

Paul Levesque is called Triple H in the ring. He started his wrestling career in 1994 and has an impressive 23 championships to his name. His performance in "Blade: Trinity" is pretty impressive for a wrestler-turned-actor.

Texas resident Steve Austin has 19 championship wins to his illustrious wrestling career. He debuted with "The Longest Yard" as an actor, where Adam Sandler played the character of a shamed ex-professional football player. Critics praised Austin's performance in that movie.

Randy Savage

Randy Savage

Randy Savage was famous for his wrestling nickname "Macho Man," and is considered one of the great intercontinental champions of all time. Movie audiences enjoyed watching Savage play the character Bone-Saw in the 2002 movie "Spiderman."
