The 10 Best Simpsons Characters
One of the longest running shows of all time, 'The Simpsons' has spawned some of the most memorable TV characters in history. From Krusty the curmudgeon to the hopelessly devoted Mr. Smithers, there are no shortages of stand-out personalities in this animated classic.
Krusty the Clown
The son of a rabbi, Krusty the Clown is one of the richest and influential men in Springfield. He has his own TV show, burger franchise, and movie studio, as well as several children scattered across the world. His passions are booze, cigarettes, and wallowing in self-pity.
Skinner is the Principal of Springfield Elementary, a hopeless romantic, a Vietnam POW, and the arch-nemesis of Bart Simpson. When he is not keeping his students in line or wooing Edna Krabappel, he is busy living under the thumb of his overbearing mother.
Charles Montgomery Burns is rich, powerful, and one of the most corrupt individuals to ever grace Springfield. He owns the power plant where Homer works and seizes every opportunity to turn a profit, even if that means bribing key officials or blocking out the sun.
Moe is the unlucky-in-love proprietor of the local watering hole who moonlights as a smuggler and insurance defrauder. He will often regale the other characters with tales of his past, including his stint as a boxer and child actor.
Lisa is wise beyond her years and loves playing the saxophone, reading a good book, and caring for others. She is, without a doubt, the most compassionate character on the show. Marge may be the brains of the family, but Lisa is most assuredly the heart.
One of the most prominent immigrants in Springfield, Apu owns the local convenience store in order to provide for his countless children. He is routinely shot by the gangs and robbers, but still remains dedicated to his beloved 'Kwik-E-Mart.'
Smithers takes the term 'strong work ethic' to a whole new level. He is Mr. Burns' trusty assistant, always willing to go above and beyond to make his aged employer happy. This sometimes involves covering up crimes and finding companions for his boss.
Chief Wiggum is the donut-loving head of the local police force. His adoration for sweet treats makes Springfield one of the most dangerous places to live, as just about every crime escapes his notice.
The rough and rugged groundskeeper of the elementary school, Groundskeeper Willie lives in a shack on-campus and brawls with anyone who crosses him. His favorite pastimes are yelling at the school children and showing off his pride of all things Scottish.
Homer is the well-meaning, dim-witted provider of the Simpson clan who simply cannot get enough 'Duff' beer. He is always managing to get himself wrapped in some sort of scheme or ill-fated adventure, from becoming a dare devil to selling used bacon grease for profit.
