Cena was the name of the main meal of the day enjoyed by the Ancient Romans. Exotic foods such as giraffe, ostrich, lion, and peacock were sometimes eaten. Much of the Roman social sphere was centered on the cena and the public baths (the frequenting of which often preceded the cena). Seating during the cena was arranged in what is known as a 'triclinium'; three couches for reclining arranged as three sides of a square, with a small table for food in the middle of all these.
