A Web page that is designed to appeal to search engine spiders that continually comb the Web looking for pages to index. Also known as a "bridge page" or "jump page," the doorway page contains words and phrases that make it more likely to be indexed by a greater number of search engines. Doorway pages do not contain any messages or ads for users, rather they serve only to send them to the real page either automatically with a fast meta refresh or manually via a "Click Here" button. See meta refresh and spamdexing.
