Brad Garrett's resonant voice is as familiar as his face to a good many television and film fans of his, having provided the voice for characters in so many animated films, since the 1980's. Among the films and TV shows he has lent his voice to are: Transformers, Where's Waldo, The Jetsons, Casper, A Bug's Life, Stuart Little 2, The Country Bears, Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, and Underdog.
Born Brad Gerstenfeld, on April 14, 1960, Garrett grew up...and up... (to an impressive 6'8" tall) in Woodland Hills, CA. He started out in comedy, doing stand-up at various Los Angeles comedy clubs, like the Ice House in Pasadena and the Improv in Hollywood. In 1984, his achievement of winning the first $100,000 grand champion prize in the comedy category of Star Search led to his first appearance, at age 23, on 'The Tonight Show," starring Johnny Carson. He went on to headline in nightclubs all over the country.
Turning to television, Garrett won guest roles in a number of shows, including an ongoing spot on The Hollywood Squares. But, his most notable role is that of Robert Barone, Raymond's brother, on the hit comedy, Everyone Loves Raymond. He won an Emmy award for that role and was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild award as a Best Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries for his performance in the title role of Gleason. He also has starred in the TV series, 'Til Death, with Joely Fisher. Garrett and his partner, Jill Diven, have a son and a daughter.
