Does P90x Really Work?

Big pants weight loss woman

The P90x workout system has made a splash in recent years and is surrounded by a lot of hype. As with most infomercials, you see the before and after pictures and the small print indicating that these results are not typical. The question you may ask is, "But does it really work?" Below is a guide for making the P90x system work.

Start at the beginning

P90x is the current hot selling workout video by Beachbody, but it is not the first in the series. Before there was P90x, there was Power 90, Power 90 Master Series and then P90x. Since then, at least three more systems have been added to the P90 series. If, for example, you are in relatively good shape, you take walks or do some light exercise and eat right most of the time, you can potentially jump right into P90x. However, if this is your first attempt at exercise in quite a while, and you are looking for a total body overhaul, start with Power 90. It is still a very demanding workout, but is directed toward people who are getting off the couch for the first time. Move on from there to Master Series and P90x.

Join the online community

Whether you start with Power 90 or go right for P90x, join the online community! Beachbody.com, the parent company of the P90 series offers a support system to help you plan meals and track your workouts. Connect with other members to share workout tips, success stories and motivational techniques.

Check your community for local support groups, too. You are more likely to stick with it if you are held accountable for your own actions as well as motivating someone you have met in person.

Commit

Just as with any other cardiovascular and strength training system, the real key is to commit wholeheartedly to the routine. Make the decision to follow the routines and schedules as closely as possible as well as make changes to your diet to follow the nutritional guide provided. The results you are admiring on the TV are yours only if you are fully committed to the training.

P90x can work for you if you start at an appropriate level, find and accept support and fully commit to finding a newer, better you.
