Every couple that is in a long term relationship will come to a point where they will need to know how to slow dance. Maybe you're anticipating an event where you'll slow dance or you're just interested. Either way, learning to slow dance is not hard and once you give it a few tries, you'll be a natural at it. Above all things, remember that slow dancing is sensual, calm and intimate.
When you and your significant other have agreed to slow dance, make your way out onto the dance floor. Usually when a couple knows they are about to slow dance, the male will lead the female onto the dancefloor by lightly holding her hand. Alternatively, he can also use his hand on her back to gently lead her as well.
When a couple is ready to slow dance, the male will start by placing his right hand flat against her lower back and his left hand out at a 45 degree angle. His palm should be open as if inviting her hand to join in his. You can choose the amount of space to leave between the two of you. The two of you should be close, but your bodies should not be resting on one another. This can make fluid and free movement difficult and cause an error.
Slow dancing does not include a lot of movement, but it helps to get an idea of what you should be doing with your body. Make sure that you are dancing in a clockwise direction, and take turns shifting your weight from left to right with the beat of the music. Make sure your body is in sync with your significant other's as well when moving.
Make sure to maintain eye contact throughout the slow dance with your partner. This is where the magic happens.
