Knowles Electronics manufactures subminiature acoustic transducers used in hearing aids. Founded in 1946, the company also makes microphones, receivers, volume controls, trimmers, switches, telecoils, and other components used in aerospace, computer, instrumentation, medical, military, and telecommunications applications. Customers include Siemens, Sonic Innovations, GN ReSound, Oticon, and Phonak. Knowles Electronics became a subsidiary of Dover Corporation in 2005 when investment firm Doughty Hanson & Co. sold it to Dover for $750 million. Knowles Electronics operates manufacturing facilities in China and Malaysia, with application engineering and sales offices around the world.
