Leading Answer Site Takes First Place as Education Reference Tool
New York, NY - May 18, 2006 - Answers Corporation (NASD:
ANSW),
creators of Answers.com
TM,
proudly announced today that it is the recipient of the Software & Information Industry Association's (SIIA) esteemed Codie award for Best Education Reference or Search Service. Finalists included Britannica Online Academic Edition, Microsoft Encarta Academic Online, Pearson Digital Learning's KnowledgeBox® and Clearvue & SVE's PowerMediaPlus.com. The award was announced yesterday at the 21st Annual Codie Awards Gala at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco.
Established in 1986, and known as the "Oscars of the software industry," the Codie Awards recognize outstanding achievement and vision in the software, digital content and education technology industries. This year, Codie Awards judges selected finalists from a record 1,026 nominations from more than 500 companies. First round judging was completed by a broad panel of representatives from the industry trade press, mainstream technology writers and industry experts and analysts. Second round judging was based on votes from SIIA members.
"We couldn't be more pleased," said Bob Rosenschein, Answers.com's Founder and CEO. "The recognition from our peers is a great confirmation of the accolades we've received from teachers, students, parents and the press. While Answers.com is hardly restricted to use in an educational framework, teachers, librarians and media specialists view Answers.com as a perfect fit for their classroom and library needs because it's one-stop, easy to use, cross-disciplinary, reliable and student-friendly reference. To top it off - it's free."
