n.

1. 1. One who tells or plays jokes.
   2. An insolent person who seeks to make a show of cleverness.
   3. Informal. An annoying or inept person: Some joker is blocking my driveway.
2. Games. A playing card, usually printed with a picture of a jester, used in certain games as the highest-ranking card or as a wild card.
3. A minor clause in a document such as a legislative bill that voids or changes its original or intended purpose.
4. An unforeseen but important difficulty, fact, or circumstance.
5. A deceptive means of getting the better of someone.

A person whose words or actions provoke or are intended to provoke amusement or laughter: clown, comedian, comic, farceur, funnyman, humorist, jester, jokester, quipster, wag², wit, zany. Informal card. See laughter.

A term used by military pilots after to indicate a low-fuel state. The aircraft has just sufficient fuel to return to base and land as well as fuel reserve for diversion to the designated diversionary airfield. This call is preceded by “bingo,” which indicates that aircraft involved in combat can continue to engage only for a short period of time and should try and disengage or discontinue any other exercise they are carrying out. The next call after “joker” is “thirsty,” which means the fuel state is such that an immediate landing should be carried out and there is no reserve available for a diversion.
