Biography
While his half-sister, Miley Cyrus, enjoyed a meteoric pop career in the mid-2000s, Trace Cyrus earned his own accolades as the guitarist for Metro Station. Born in 1989, he received some early insight into the machinations of popular music by joining his stepfather, country artist Billy Ray Cyrus, on a series of summer tours. Trace later dropped out of La CaƱada High School in California to focus on his own music, having already established a songwriting relationship with singer/guitarist Mason Musso. The duo formed Metro Station with the help of two additional musicians, and the band's electronic pop/rock found an audience in 2008 (nearly a full year after their debut album was released) when the single "Shake It" rose to platinum status. ~ Andrew Leahey, Rovi
