A card or sheet of microfilm capable of accommodating and preserving a considerable number of pages, as of printed text, in reduced form.

[French : Greek mīkro-, micro- + French fiche, peg, slip of paper, index card (from Old French, peg, from fichier, to drive in, fasten, from Vulgar Latin *fīgicāre, from Latin fīgere).]

Pronounced "micro-feesh." A 4x6" sheet of film that holds several hundred miniaturized document pages. See micrographics.
