Review
Pierre Bensusan is a marvelous technical guitarist; he has speed, flair, touch and expressiveness. While he doesn't play with either fire or improvisational élan, he demonstrates tremendous skills throughout the 13 pieces on this anthology of late-'70s singles issued by Dadgad (distributed domestically by Rounder). With the exception of "Perles de Cristal" and "Si Bhig, Si Mhor/The Rakish Paddy," these are short, ethereal, atmospheric pieces played nicely by Bensusan. The melodies and voicings are stylish, done in a dreamy, catchy manner. There are bits of flamenco and Spanish guitar, and it's all brilliantly executed. If you're seeking tough, harsh or gritty material, look elsewhere. ~ Ron Wynn, Rovi| Musiqueiro (2000 Album by João Suplicy) | |
