Some topics and studies included in these journals range from zoo animals to plant conservation to endangered species. Several popular online wildlife journals include The Journal of Wildlife Management, Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine, Journal of Wildlife Diseases, and Journal of Wildlife Rehabilitation.The Journal of Wildlife Management is produced by the Wildlife Society, a non-profit group that seeks to further the education of science and wildlife through several methods. Each issue of the journal contains papers of studies conducted by scientists on a variety of issues related to the healthy growth and maintenance of animals and the earth. Some recent topics from papers published in the journal include estimating black bear density using DNA from hair snares, the wolf population in the Northern Rocky Mountain region of the U.S., and the habitat preferences of owls.The Journal of Zoo and Wildlife Medicine contains research articles and other written contributions from a variety of experts in wildlife medicine on numerous topics. Journaling is one of the best ways to get students to write. It provides students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the writing process more. By allowing students… to write about what they are most comfortable or familiar with, they are more likely to develop this skill even further. In addition, when you first start writing, it is very important to do so in large amounts. This simple act contributes to your ability to express yourself easily and practice new strategies as an author. However, it can be difficult to come up with inspiring journaling topics, so here are some ideas.This journaling topic allows students to think back to their most memorable dream. If the students claim to not remember any specific dream, tell them to imagine what their favorite dream would be like. This gives students the opportunity to exercise their descriptive language and imagination.Every student has had one argument or another with a parent or family member. Let them describe the experience. You have the opportunity to encourage the use of dialogue and emotional vocabulary words such as anger and frustration. If the student feels like he or she was wronged during this argument or discovered that they were right, they will be able to passionately write about the experience.Tell the students to imagine that they are traveling to their favorite foreign country. As a part of the trip, they are keeping a travel blog for everyone to read. Ask the students to compose one blog entry detailing any portion of the trip they wish. This topic combines imagination, descriptive writing, and connotative language practice. To push your more advanced students, tell them to consider who the audience of their blog is. Are they writing to their parents, or is the blog for their friends from school? Ask the students to explain what part of their blog entry appealed to their audience and why.Pick a real or imagined news event to report on. Tell the students to write a short newspaper article describing the event. The students may choose to write a traditional news report or they can choose to write the story from an unexpected perspective. For example, they may choose to write a report on a house fire from the family dog's perspective. This gives students the opportunity to consider perspective and how it impacts a story.Tell the students to imagine that they are a ruler or governor controlling the country. Each student should select one daily task. Then, as the ruler, the student should develop and write new strict rules for how this task must be completed. Whatever rules they make for this task will be followed by everyone in the country. This allows students to take the authoritative role adults typically have and play with it.Journaling is a great way to get students to write. Although it is a very useful teaching method, it can be difficult to come up with attractive new topics. You can tailor whatever journal topic you select to get the students to practice different writing methods you have recently taught. The topics mentioned here allow students to use their everyday knowledge to create a journal entry while exercising specific writing techniques.One way to get students into the journaling process is by exposing them to examples of writing. There are numerous fiction and non-fiction texts written in a journal style. It is particularly easy to find journal style books written in the historical fiction genre geared toward children. You have been able to find, since the journal began, and will continue to find articles that will show the latest findings and research in geography.The Journal of Geography is the magazine that is published by the National Council for Geographic Education. Their goal is to provide the latest in research, ways of analyzing geography, and ways of looking at our world. The National Council for Geographic Education was started in 1914 by George J Miller who worked at the State Normal School in Mankato, Minnesota, and Raymond H. Whitbeck who was from the University of Wisconsin. The Council was created to fill the gap in the field of geographic education. The Journal of Geography become the official journal of the organization in 1915.The Journal publishes articles that include research based studies, commentaries, symposia, and book reviews. Almost any manuscript that makes a new and important contribution to geology through research, learning, and teaching are sought to make their journal the quality resource it is. The Journal also publishes two issues of The Geography Teacher each year that specializes in how teachers can help their students learn. Some of the articles that were published when the Journal was young are "Do it this Way: A New Way for Geographic Education: Values and Environmental Concerns" in 1974 and "Elementary Social Studies: Sense and Nonsense in Integration" in 1958. Since 1915, it has been the place to go to find materials to teach about geography, learn about it, and keep informed about the research being done.
