The 1. deild kvinnur (for 1st division women) is the top level women's football league of the Faroe Islands.
The winning team of the league qualifies for a spot in the UEFA Women's Champions League.
There are currently six teams in the league, with KÍ Klaksvík dominating the league and winning the last 11 championships.

Format
With 10 teams in the league, each team plays the other teams 2 times a season, two full double round robins. After 18 matches per club, the last place doesn't get relegated anymore, because the pitch in the 2nd divison is only 3/4 of the 1st divison size.
