The 1. deild kvinnur (for 1st division women) is the top level women's football league of the Faroe Islands.

The winning team of the league qualifies for a spot in the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Format

With 10 teams in the league, each team plays the other teams 2 times a season, two full double round robins. After 18 matches per club, the last place doesn't get relegated anymore, because the pitch in the 2nd divison is only 3/4 of the 1st divison size.
