An Ethernet network card (NIC) or circuit in a chipset that supports 10Base-T (10 Mbps), 100Base-T (100 Mbps) and 1000Base-T (1000 Mbps) access methods. At startup, the card negotiates the speed automatically with the hub, switch or adapter at the other end. See Ethernet, 10/100/1000 switch and 10/100 adapter.
