The debut album from a couple of Joan of Arc vets pushes more emo, more noise, and more indecipherable lyrics. The links from here to there are not always the easiest or most sensible way to get to wherever it is they're going, but Friend/Enemy does have a certain charge that makes 10 Songs something of a twist-and-turn adventure. The melodies are often jarring, and the rhythmic slips bleed punk into some sort of post-millennium jazz-funk thing, but there's not much here that you haven't heard before. Fractured vocals, time-shifting rhythms, and a sense of forced quirkiness ultimately add up to just another ho-hum break from emo standards. ~ Michael Gallucci, Rovi
