Plot

1071 Fifth Ave: Frank Lloyd Wright and the Story of the Guggenheim Museum details the drama, rivalry, bitterness, and achievement of Wright's crusade to design the art museum of his dreams. Reaching completion 17 years after it was originally commissioned, the Guggenheim building opened its door six months after Wright's death. Via letters from Wright and museum curator Hilla Rebay, the program tells the behind-the-scenes story of the birth of a beautiful museum. Read by F. Murray Abraham and Claire Bloom, these letters dramatize the battle for Wright's artistic design. The video also features footage from the reopening of the restored and expanded museum. ~ Betsy Boyd, Rovi
