political events

The Portuguese monarchy and the Burgundian dynasty that will control it until 1385 are founded upon the death of Henri of Burgundy, count of Portugal. Henri's 3-year-old son succeeds him, with the boy's mother, Teresa, as regent, and will assume authority in 1128, reigning until 1185 as Afonso Henriques.

Sweden's former king Halsten Stenkilsson dies; his son Philip Halstensson has reigned jointly with Ingold II since 1105 and will continue until 1118.

religion

The Holy Roman Emperor Heinrich V is excommunicated by the Synod of Vienna, but an uprising led by Lothair, duke of Saxony, is easily quelled (see 1111; 1122).
