Review

12 Hits of the '60s, Vol. 1: Five Star Collection is far too brief at only 12 songs, but it does contain an interesting mix of rock the likes of which one would hear blasting out of garages, frat houses, and radios during the mid-'60s. Mixing oldies radio staples like the Kingsmen's "Louie, Louie," the Swingin' Medallions' "Double Shot (Of My Baby's Love)," and the Count Five's "Psychotic Reaction" with tough garage rockers like the Music Machine's "Talk Talk," the Five Americans' "I See the Light," and the Guess Who's "Shakin' All Over" makes for a collection that is both familiar and exciting. Anyone getting into the rock sound of the mid-'60s would find this disc to be a fine starting point. ~ Tim Sendra, Rovi
