Burmese fortresses near Bhamo fall to Kublai Khan's Mongol invaders, who are able to advance down the Irawaddy River Valley, forcing Burma's king Narathihapate to flee southward to Bassein, where he will accept Mongol suzerainty (see 1277; 1287).
