The Chinese make paper. It is used as a packing material and for clothing, but not yet for writing. See also 105 ce Materials.

A Chinese text describes an incense burner suspended in a system of concentric rings so that it remains horizontal. This is the first Chinese description of such a universal joint, invented by Fang Feng. See also 189 ce Tools.
