1421 Esperanto (provisional designation: 1936 FQ) is a main belt asteroid discovered on March 18, 1936 by the Finnish astronomer Yrjö Väisälä at Iso-Heikkilä Observatory in Turku, Finland. It measures 43.31km in diameter.
Väisälä named the asteroid after the constructed language Esperanto. He also named another asteroid, 1462 Zamenhof, after Esperanto's creator, L. L. Zamenhof.
