- January 2 - The first religious broadcast is made by Dr. E.J. Van Etten of Calvary Episcopal Church on the Pittsburgh station KDKA.
- January 3 - Station 9XM, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison is the first in the world to broadcast vocal weather forecasts. They had been broadcasting Morse code weather bulletins since 1917.[1]
- February 18 - Warren G. Harding becomes the first president-elect heard on radio, when he makes an appearance on KDKA.
- April 11 - The world's first ever sport's broadcast is made on KDKA. Florent Gibson of the Pittsburg Star newspaper comments on the fight between Johnny Ray and Johnny Dundee at the Motor Square, Pittsburgh.[2]
- November 27 - US bandleader Vincent Lopez & group begins a weekly 90-minute music show on Westinghouse-owned station WJZ in Newark, NJ.
