Review

Though Miguel Matamoros came out of the sones heartland, he worked with a trio sound that was more flexible and mellow than the style's classic quartets and septets, without losing any of what made the whole son sound so special. That and an unparalleled composing talent made his trio a permanent fixture among the gods. These early recordings, mostly from the ‘30s, are sunshine made audible. ~ John Storm Roberts, Original Music, Rovi
