The 1951 NBA All-Star Game, the first ever NBA All-Star Game, was held in the Boston Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on March 2, 1951. Ed Macauley of the Boston Celtics received the first NBA All-Star Game MVP award, with 20 points. The head coaches were Joe Lapchick of the New York Knicks for the East, while John Kundla of the Minneapolis Lakers coached the West.
