  • Ozark Jubilee begins as a weekly two-and-a-half-hour live broadcast over KWTO-AM on July 17. On August 2, ABC Radio begins carrying 25 minutes of the program nationally.
  • Rocky Fortune, a half-hour detective drama starring Frank Sinatra, begins airing on NBC on October 6. It aired on Tuesday nights immediately following Dragnet on NBC's schedule.
