Notes

• Fatal accident of Carel Godin de Beaufort (Porsche 718) in practice. He went off at the sweeping Bergwerk corner at the northernmost part of the track, went into the trees and suffered severe injuries to his head. He died 3 days later at a neurological center in Cologne.
• This was the first race in F1 for Honda.
