The 1967 U.S. Open was the 67th U.S. Open. The golf tournament was held June 15–18, 1967, at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey. Jack Nicklaus established a new tournament scoring record for a four-stroke victory over Arnold Palmer, his second U.S. Open title and seventh major championship.
Amateur Marty Fleckman was the surprise 54-hole leader, a stroke ahead of Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and defending champion Billy Casper. Fleckman, however, wilted under the pressure and shot a final-round 80, finishing in 18th place. Casper carded a 72 and a 282 total, leaving him seven behind. The championship, therefore, became a duel between Nicklaus and Palmer. Nicklaus birdied six of his first eight holes to open up a four-stroke advantage over Palmer, and that is how they finished. Nicklaus' total of 275 was a new tournament record, surpassing the 276 of Ben Hogan in 1948. His final round 65 tied the tournament record for lowest final 18 holes. For Palmer, it was his fourth runner-up finish at the U.S. Open in six years.
Lee Trevino finished in 5th place for his first top-10 finish in a major championship; he would win the U.S. Open the following year. Hogan played in his final major and finished in 34th.
