• Learning from Las Vegas by Robert Venturi, Steven Izenour and Denise Scott Brown is published.
• India passes the Architects Act governing the professional practice of architecture in India.
• Yale University designates the Yale School of Architecture as a separate professional school.
• Demolition begins (March 16) of the Pruitt–Igoe public housing project designed by Minoru Yamasaki in St. Louis, Missouri, representing the end of modern architecture according to critic Charles Jencks.^[1]
