The 1983 Gilbey's Gin Gimlets season was the 5th season of the franchise in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

Key Date

  • October 20: Import Lew Massey played 63 minutes in Gilbey's 130-136 triple-overtime loss to Toyota.

Season Recap

  • Gilbey's Gin landed in the finals of the revived All-Filipino Conference (after a two-year absence of the league's most prestigious tourney) of the 1983 season, losing to the Crispa Redmanizers by a sweep, 3-0 in the best-of-five series. The Gimlets were powered by the hulking Lew Massey in the Reinforced Conference. Massey later teamed up with Jack Dorsey in the Open (3rd) Conference. Gilbey's figured in a playoff match for the finals berth in the last two conferences of the season, lost each time to Great Taste Coffee.
