The 1991–92 New York Knicks season was the 46th season of NBA basketball in New York City, New York. The team hired Pat Riley to take over the as coach. Riley had an impact as the Knicks finished with a 51–31 record.[1] In the playoffs, the Knicks eliminated the Detroit Pistons in five games. In the second round, the Knicks faced off against the defending champion Chicago Bulls. The Knicks frustrated the Bulls and Michael Jordan with their physical play. The Knicks lost in seven games but a new rivalry was born.[1]
