Key dates
- March 8: Coney Island opened its title-retention bid of the All-Filipino Cup, with a 111-109 victory over rival Swift Mighty Meaties.
- May 10: Win number 12 in 18 games for the Ice Cream Stars, and a playoff match with Swift Mighty Meaties, following a 109-104 win over Sta.Lucia on the last playing date of the semifinals.
- May 13: Coney Island reached the All-Filipino finals for the 7th time, defeating Swift Mighty Meaties, 86-74 in a playoff game for the right to faced San Miguel Beer, the Stars and the beermen were on their consecutive All-Filipino finals showdown.
- June 19: Ken Redfield, former Pepsi import, debut in Purefoods uniform, leading the TJ Hotdogs to an 86-82 win over Alaska Milk.
- August 23: Purefoods clinch the first finals berth of the Commissioners Cup, defeating league-leading Alaska Milk, 94-86 for their 13th win against six losses, Alaska, which is 13-5, and by virtue of their lower quotient system than the TJ Hotdogs, needed to win their last game in order to make it to the finals.
