  • February 20, top pick Marlou Aquino debut with 29 points and 15 rebounds but Ginebra lost their first game of the season against Pepsi Mega, 98-94, tying the record for the longest losing streak of 18 games, dating back to last year's Commissioners Cup, after finally winning in their next game against San Miguel Beer, the Ginebras dropped to 1-4, then went on a five-game winning run to up their standing to 6-4. lost their next two games before winning over Sta.Lucia on April 14, 73-70 for its seventh win and a semifinals stint for the first time in four years. Ginebra lost a playoff game to Alaska Milk to determined the other finalists in the All-Filipino tourney.
  • Henry James, known as "Pistolero" was Ginebra's import in the Commissioners Cup, scored 48 points in his first game, leading his team to a victory over Mobiline Cellulars, the Ginebras figured in another playoff match for a finals berth, losing to Formula Shell, 89-86 on Shell import Kenny Redfield's buzzer-beating three-pointer. once again settled to play for third place.
  • In the Governors Cup, Ginebra raced to a 7-win, 4-loss slate and an outright semis, battling San Miguel Beer in the best-of-five series, after losing Game One, 94-88, they won the next three games, with Games two and three went into overtime, before finishing the beermen, 122-106 in Game four to advance to the finals for the first time since 1991.
